The Wilder Inn
Our Story
A Place Worth Finding
For years, Wilder Inn welcomed guests as the Village Green Lodge, a beloved gathering place, nurtured by someone who understood what made this village so special and gave travelers a place to settle into it. To our Wilder Team, Door County is home. Ephraim is home. So when Wilder came to the Lodge, we weren’t starting over. We were picking up the thread.
We understand the sense of community provided here and our Inn is a natural extension of that, a place where everything we believe about hospitality, craftsmanship, and community come together.
The Small Things
Our team was created the way you’d build anything meant to last, with care, with purpose, and with people who genuinely love what they do. Our team brings together backgrounds from hospitality, to entrepreneurship, to the arts and what unites us isn’t a rĂ©sumĂ©. It’s that we each found our way here because we genuinely care about the experience someone has when they’re away from home.
The best guest experience isn’t transactional. It’s personal. It’s a conversation in the lobby that ends with you knowing exactly where to go for dinner. It’s noticing what you need before you have to ask. Our guests shouldn’t have a single thing to worry about the moment they walk through our door, and a big part of that is knowing this place the way we do.
When our guests arrive, we don’t hand them a generic tourist brochure. We hand them our list. The fish boil around the corner, the sommelier-curated wine shop just steps away, the croissant operation next door that’s become something of a local legend, the evening walk to ice cream, and the third weekend of June when the whole village gathers on the beach to burn the Winter Witch in a celebration of Scandinavian tradition that has to be seen to be believed.
What’s Coming
We believe, as Van Gogh once put it, that great things are not done by impulse but by a series of small things brought together. The Wilder Inn we’re creating won’t be finished in a season. It will come together through a series of small, intentional touches over time: a reimagined outdoor space with gathering areas, rooms elevated one by one with the same care and intention that guides everything we do, a fire pit, wine evenings under the trees, and music in the courtyard.
Our goal isn’t to be the most popular, but to be the most remembered. A place of quiet elegance, built slowly and with purpose. Not because of some flashy marketing, but because we’ve created a sense of community for all of those who stay with us, because of the timeless and tasteful upgrades we’ve made to each room mirroring the timeless beauty and charm of Ephraim itself, and because every guests knows we go out of our way, every time, to create the most thoughtful stay possible.
The Vision
Our goal isn’t to be the most popular, but to be the most remembered. A place of quiet elegance, built slowly and with purpose. Not because of some flashy marketing, but because we’ve created a sense of community for all of those who stay with us, because of the timeless and tasteful upgrades we’ve made to each room mirroring the timeless beauty and charm of Ephraim itself, and because every guests knows we go out of our way, every time, to create the most thoughtful stay possible.
We want to be a year-round destination, just as magical under a blanket of Wisconsin snow as it is on a warm August evening with fireflies in the courtyard. Our place, that gives back to Door County and Ephraim the way they’ve given to us. Our place, that carries forward the warmth of everyone who has ever called these grounds home.

Much like a masterpiece, we believe the Wilder Inn won’t be finished in a season, but through a series of small, intentional touches brought together over time.

We’re looking forward to your visit.
